ICOS has a long-term experience with designing and implementing automated systems of discontinuous production management as well as with creating data warehouses, “SCADA” systems, portal solutions and document management systems. ICOS uses the latest knowledge and procedures of object-oriented and structured methodologies. For purposes of designing and developing information systems the company uses its own products and know-how as well as products of its partner companies. Information and control systems are designed and implemented by ICOS in such a way that they are of benefit for the customer and fulfil customer’s requirements. It applies mainly to data security, flexible handling of continuous development changes in the company, minimum maintenance steps and simple user environment.

Automated systems of production management (ASRV)

Applications are designed for small up to large companies with the objective to automate their discontinuous production process. The main functions are recording material flow in the production process, monitoring quality and scheduling production. The reason for such application type usage can be the need to increase production efficiency or the need to integrate various partial solutions from the past. ASRV are customer tailored database applications working in real time. Their benefit lies in unequivocal records of specimens and their parameters throughout their whole life cycle, archiving data for selected time period, reduction of errors and claims number, limiting human factor importance and enabling access to data in terms of the access rights defined.

Systems for supporting decision-making process on data warehouses basis

The applications are designed for the company top management requiring referential selection of data based on certain criteria. It is also designed for middle and senior management requiring summary data for the time period of a day or longer, for technical units requiring more detailed data throughout the whole material flow of discontinuous production process. The main functions are automatic transfer of data from other applications or information systems to the database, data check and table completion, multidimensional cubes, archiving, reporting, overviews, criteria based data selection included. The applications are suitable as some extension to automated control systems of continuously run production. They enable to separate production control in real time with short responses from overview functions, reporting and other functions with non-critical response times. They are also suitable in situations when processing of data for different time periods, of different time delay and various criteria based is required. The applications use Microsoft Company’s technology. Their benefit lies in the possibility to process large number of data automatically, in very short time, in their long-term storage and their processing with long time delay.

Systems for data obtaining, coordination and control („SCADA“)

The applications are suitable for various large companies, in which large amount of detailed data from several active and passive sources in the production process shall be registered and processed in real time, coordinated, distributed, saved and prepared for presentation. The main functions are communication (mutual data exchange) with surrounding information systems and technological environment, coordination and synchronization of information activities as well as data storage to databases for their further usage. The decision for the application of „SCADA“ type is appropriate in situations, when it is difficult for a person to handle production process from time, accuracy, stereotype, error rate and data amount point of view. It is also suitable for the situations, when automation is required for production process certification. „SCADA“ applications use standard hardware and software components. They are customer tailored as required or if necessary and function in real time. The applications are developed in the environment, which is the most suitable for the particular case. Thanks to processes automation the human factor is eliminated and the error rate is thus reduced and that is the benefit of „SCADA“ applications. The applications can deal with the large number of data from production process in real time. They are also suitable for production quality ensuring.

Information and Control System IaRS

U. S. Steel Košice, s.r.o, - Information and control system ASRV
Continuously operated information and control system for metallurgical production process automation; it monitors the main material flow from pig iron up to the final slab, coil and sheared sheets production. The main functions are material-specimen recording, material-specimen quality, production scheduling and links with surrounding information systems, especially those used for managing technological processes, for planning and for sales information system. IaRS works in real time using 24 x 365 days regime.
ICOS participation: Project, analysis, data model, documentation, programming related cooperation, commissioning, support and development of further operation in the field of analysis, programming, database management, operating system management.

SCADA

U. S. Steel Košice, s.r.o. - SCADA
Several functioning systems used for data obtaining, coordination and control. It functions in real time in metallurgical production process. Its main task is to track and evaluate detailed technological data of specimens as well as to control and evaluate chemical and mechanical specimen material tests. SCADA systems function in real time, in close relation to the information and control system.
ICOS participation:Projects, hardware deliveries, networks, analyses, data models, programming, commissioning, documentation, further operation support and development.

OKO/EYE

U. S. Steel Košice, s.r.o., OKO – Data warehouse
Continuously operated extension information system; it is designed for middle and senior management. It is a warehouse of product data in the overall cross section of the material workflow using multidimensional cubes. It enables selection and presentation of data according to certain criteria and for certain time period (a day or longer), as well as data long-term archiving. The information system processes data not only from IaRS and „SCADA“ but also from some other information systems of the metallurgical process.
ICOS participation: Analysis, data model, programming related cooperation, commissioning a support and development of further operation in the analytical and programming area.
